Important Information
Please note if you are attending for a scan appointment with Laura, you do not need to book a separate blood-taking appointment, simply add the blood tests you require to the notes on your scan booking. For any other practitioner, you will need to request and book a blood test separately.
All appointments require a non-refundable deposit which is deducted from the total balance which is due in clinic on the day of your test / appointment.
Many tests have a four-hour turnaround meaning results should be available the same day as your test at no extra cost however please note this is based on the time the sample is received at the lab, and not on the time of your test. We provide a complimentary courier service to the lab and the time taken for the sample's delivery depends on the courier's other collections and route.
We will send results as soon as we receive them including evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.
Occasionally results may not be reported until the following day and Starlight Ultrasound Limited takes no responsibility for any delays caused by the courier or the lab.
Please note blood tests or any appointments outside of our normal opening hours, will be subject to higher pricing which will be confirmed to you on booking.
Beta HCG (£75)
A quantitative human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) test measures the specific level of HCG in the blood.
HCG is a hormone produced in the body during pregnancy.
Quantitative (reported as a number) hCG testing (also called beta hCG) measures the actual amount of hCG present in the blood. It may be used to help diagnose an ectopic pregnancy, to help diagnose and monitor a pregnancy that may be failing, and to monitor a woman after a miscarriage.
Starlight offers Beta HCG blood tests with typical 4-hour turnaround for results.
Progesterone (£70)
Progesterone is a test to measure the amount of progesterone in the blood.
Progesterone is a hormone produced mainly in the ovaries.
Progesterone plays a key role in pregnancy. It is produced after ovulation in the second half of the menstrual cycle. It helps make a woman's uterus ready for a fertilized egg to be implanted.
So its testing can be an ovulation Indicator as well as being used to monitor normal progesterone levels before and during pregnancy.

Measures AMH levels in blood samples to assess fertility and ovarian reserve in females.

Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT) - (from £425)

Non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) uses cell-free DNA (cfDNA) derived from the pregnancy to evaluate possible chromosomal conditions in a pregnancy. NIPT is a prenatal chromosomal screening test that can be performed as early as 10 weeks of pregnancy using a single blood draw.
We offer the Illumina VeriSeq v2 NIPT for £425 (which replaced Harmony) with a complimentary courier service to take your sample directly to the UK-based laboratory for speedier turnaround which is usually 5 working days. We also offer IONACare (from £450) which has additional SCA and AA tests (costing an extra £65 meaning a total of £515) - IONA's lab is in Manchester and if sample is hand delivered can return results in 2-3 working days.
Price for both Illumina VeriSeq v2 and IONA NIPTs includes the blood test and an ultrasound scan with scan prints.
