The Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm screening is an ultrasound scan which assesses the condition of the aorta.

This scan can be booked by anyone without a GP or specialist referral.
All men living in England are invited by the NHS for abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) screening the year they turn 65. Therefore women are excluded from standard screening as they are deemed to be at lower risk.
If you do not qualify for NHS screening, but you may be at higher risk you can book an aorta scan at Starlight.
You may be at higher risk if:
- people in your family have had an abdominal aortic aneurysm
- you have high blood pressure, diabetes or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
- you smoke
A written report is provided the same day as your appointment.
There is no preparation needed for this ultrasound scan. You can eat and drink as normal.
Blood Tests
Starlight Ultrasound offers a range of blood tests with same-day results, mostly for pregnancy and fertility purposes.
We may also be able to offer other blood tests if requested by a referring clinic or medical professional.
