Starlight Ultrasound is a private ultrasound and midwife clinic specialising in pregnancy care.

Our trained, insured and qualified staff can see you at all gestations so we offer pregnancy scans as early as five weeks from the first day of your last period all the way to full term.

Starlight offers one-off pay-as-you-go scans and packages as well as care plans and bundles comprising multiple appointments, all of which can be booked online 24/7. 

Our booking platform is a live diary system meaning available slots show in real time so cancellations that open up availability can be seen as soon as they happen.

 

Baby Gender Scan Packages

If you are looking to find out the gender of your baby, Starlight Ultrasound offers reliable and accurate gender scans from 13 weeks. 

The Silver gender scan package is the lowest-price gender scan but the Gold and Platinum options offer best value as they include more gender reveal items.

The packages are set and priced in a certain way so we do not generally allow elements to be changed. For those not requiring a confetti cannon, we do allow extra scan prints to be taken instead but we do not offer refunds, rebates, discounts or money off for elements not taken or required. 

If your package does not include something that you would like to add on, you may do so by informing us when you attend your appointment. These gender reveal items are all available on the day of your appointment without the need to pre-order.

Prices are slightly lower for 14-week gender scans than for 13-week gender scans so anyone over 14 weeks (so whether 18, 28 or 38 weeks pregnant) can choose from the 14-week gender scan packages.

These gender scans are available at both clinic locations and can be booked on-line 24/7 as well as over the phone, by email, social media, LiveChat and in clinic.

You will be asked at the start of the appointment whether you want to find out the gender immediately or whether you are doing a gender reveal at a later time. Please be assured that as our staff perform these gender scans every day, they are used to it and won't accidentally tell you or show you anything that gives the gender away to anyone in your party.

The confetti cannons only contain one colour confetti (blue or pink) so you will only be given the correct one(s) but from the outside they look identical.

Our staff will only ever refer to "baby" or "it" and any reference to "him" or "her" will be

5D Bonding Scan Packages

This scan is recommended around 28 weeks and includes reassurance by assessing the viability and wellbeing of your baby, hearing the heartbeat, growth measurements providing an estimated fetal weight and viewing baby in 3D, 4D and 5D with Samsung’s exclusive patented software technology. A 2D baby scan is the traditional outline of baby in black and white, which is what your NHS scan prints will be. A 3D baby scan shows still pictures of baby in three dimensions with a 4D baby scan showing live, moving 3D images of baby. A 5D baby scan is the latest and almost exclusive technology that we have providing the most realistic views of baby yet.

Optional gender confirmation available at no extra cost at any of these scans but if you don't know the gender of your baby, you can still have this scan without finding out.

We recommend our 5D bonding scans around 28 weeks although technically you can book one at any gestation.

If you are carrying twins we still recommend 28 weeks. Similarly if you have an anterior placenta (at the back) 28 weeks is a good time to come, just ideally no later than then in the first instance.

We recommend 28 weeks as baby has developed enough flesh for the imaging to work best but in the event we have to re-book and bring you back at a future date, there is still plenty of time. 

There is no latest date or cut off point but depending on baby's position and your placenta, the later on in pregnancy, the less room there is for baby to move so it can be more difficult however we have had people, with an anterior placenta, come at 32-36 weeks and get great views of baby. Recently someone whose baby was in an awkward position and was already 37 weeks pregnant, came back at 39 weeks and the images they got were better than their original scan!

So whilst you can book a 5D bonding scan at any gestation, we strongly discourage any booking prior to 20 weeks. This can help avoid disappointment as the views are not as impressive until later on. But we would't decline a booking or refuse to see someone who is 39 weeks pregnant.

Pregnancy Care Plans & Scan Bundles

We offer a range of comprehensive and all-inclusive pre-paid ultrasound bundles, pregnancy care plans & packages.

This means you can plan ahead and pay for a bundle of scans which will save some money compared to the individual pay-as-you-go prices and also secure the price at the time of purchase even if any of the separate elements increase before you have used it.

There is an option solely to assist through the early stages of your pregnancy and a couple which provide more reassurance throughout pregnancy and we are also open to tailoring a specific care plan or scan bundle for your specific circumstances so you are welcome to request a bespoke package.

Private Midwife Packages

For those seeking the most comprehensive reassurance and support during pregnancy, and subject to availability and eligibility criteria, we offer private antenatal care alongside pregnancy scans.
This is available to, and appropriate for anyone accessing both NHS and/or private maternity care.
